Felin and I started to discuss about behaviour of children when we are out with common friends lately. 2 infant boys whom we met recently encouraged us a lot because they behave so well when they are out with their parents. The boys were able to sit quietly in their stroller and be carried around by anyone in the room. They learnt eye contact and are so willing to take pictures when asked to. We never hear them cry to seek attention and will just sleep when its time for them to do so. Wow... Felin and I are really praying hard that our babies will just be like them.
As for the other boy whom we met, he is about 2.5 years old. We learned about how tiring and patient we must be to take care kids of this age. He seeks a lot of attention from the parents and constantly don't seems to be satisfied playing on his own. He can stay in the playground for a good half an hour doing things repeatedly but keep wanting his parents to watch him all the time. While having dinner, he constantly play around with the utensils, play with food and pouring water around. I seriously doubt I have the patience if he is my own child. I can't really imagine as yet on how we can have meals in future with 2 boys too.
I'm seeing challenges ahead but yet I'm still treating as if they are not coming anytime yet. I did not keep my objectives that I made few months ago and yet time is running out. I reduced my exercise regime quite a lot and became no so fit again, I did not have regular quiet time and read the bible for a few weeks, my sales wasn't exactly good, I did not train well on my public speaking, I spent too much time on TV and other useless stuffs, etc... I know time is running out but yet my spirit is weak to do things I wanted to do. I'm trying to pack my appointments but I know many of these appointments does not translate to sales.
I remembered my 5 pillars of wealth which stems from Spiritual growth. Perhaps, I must first focus on God before things get right for me again. I have no more time and only God can give me the capabilities to handle the stress ahead.
So often we heard from the woman sharing about their pregnancy and motherhood experiences but how often do we hear from the man's side? Twins will give us twice the joy, love, laughters and hugs but twice the anxieties as well. I am using this platform to share my experience over the 9 months journey, my experiences as a Daddy and record what I want to tell my Children. This blog writes largely about them and is written specially for them.

Christmas Day 2014
Its a simple Christmas for me and Felin today. We thought we are not able to put up our Christmas Tree after moving to Livia this year due to the smaller space but we were wrong. Our Christmas Tree still looks as beautiful as before after decoration and putting up our family Christmas wishes cards. It sit nicely on our planter area.
We went for our morning Church Service and I cleaned up the house and cooked lunch for Felin. She rested and arranged the clothes for the babies. Just doing some light preparation for their arrivals.
Felin will be stopping work from tomorrow onwards and prepare herself to the babies' D day, currently set to be 10th January 2015. Its tentative and to be confirmed in the next 1 week.
Our Christmas wish for this year is simple. Safe delivery of the babies and that we are able to handle the stress and challenges coming ahead. We will want to celebrate Christmas together as a new family unit in 2015, happily and feeling blissful when we look back this year's Christmas...

Nearly went A&E on Christmas Eve
Felin complained that her calves were painful on Christmas Eve. She shared about this nagging "muscle ache" like pain for the past 1 week which I message her legs every night. The pain are usually more pronounced during the night. I'm have been monitoring her legs and read up quite a bit because of this. However, after a week, she felt unsure and prefer to visit the GP to seek more information.
The GP instead of giving us any info, referred us to NUH A&E straight and when asked what could be the problem, she answered that she does not want to speculate and told us to go for further check-up. I believed that it shouldn't be something serious after reading quite a bit about muscle aches during late stage pregnancy.
From what I read, typically, the ache and swollen leg can be caused by fluid retention which is particularly pronounced in feet, ankles, and calves because the growing uterus puts pressure on the veins that carry blood back from the lower body. This partially blocks blood flow, keeping fluid in legs and feet. Blood vessels are also smallest in your foot and ankle so body has difficulty accommodating the extra fluid pouring in there.
Another possibility is symptoms of blood clotting. Pregnant woman are more prone of getting a blood clot because blood flows moving from the veins in legs to heart much more slowly due to pregnancy hormones and uterus (womb) getting larger as the baby grow. Or during this stage of pregnancy, veins can become slightly damaged as baby presses on the veins to pelvis
Of course, I'm aware that it could be Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT). DVT is a blood clot in a vein deep below the skin's surface. DVT can appear in the deep veins in the back of leg, or in thigh or pelvis. DVT can be dangerous but there is only a very small chance of getting it during pregnancy. Only one or two women in 1,000 will have one either during pregnancy or during the first six weeks after giving birth..
We discussed about it and we agreed that should the pain becomes unbearable or it persisted the next morning, we will go A&E.
Glad that Felin's legs got much better the next morning and we went to church Christmas service without any problem. Thank God that we need not go A&E and my funny thoughts about babies needing to come at Christmas Day, which is Felin's wish over the years to have a Christmas baby came true.

2 Christmas Celebration with Families
When my sister suggested holding a Christmas Celebration on 20th Dec few weeks ago, I was still wondering if Felin can hold on till the date. I was also wondering if our annual Christmas party at our place for Felin's family can be held for this year. I'm really happy that the babies hold on till today that we are able to complete the 2 celebrations.
TV is showing 11 more days to 2015 today and we are really counting down towards it. The babies passed their 35th week and we are out of ICU zone at least. Well done, babies...
Mother and Mother-In-Law assured that they will be helping us once the babies are born. MIL should be helping out on the 2nd month. Lest we are assured helping hands till the 3rd month where I should get domestic help by then.
This year's party was a simple affair. They went church in the morning to watch the drama on Christmas. After Service, we purchased Po Piah fillings to DIY and ordered Pizzas for lunch. We played games and enjoyed ourselves in the function room. We then rested in the entertainment room while watching Felin's montage for last year's celebration. The day ended with a nice dinner at the Central coffeeshop. Its a success this year but 2015 celebrations will be a very challenging one and I'm again not sure if we are capable to hold it together with the babies.
MIL helped to clean my house today. Sometimes wondering if my house is really so dirty that she need to mop my house and washed my toilet right after she steps in. As she was looking through the babies room, I put one of the babies clothes on the cover of the diaper changing mat and she immediately bring it out to wash, citing that the cover is dusty. I seriously don't think its dusty because if I did clean it before and I touched the cover umpteen times and never felt dirty about it. She then inspect my wardrobe and fan and told me to clean up the fans.
I am certainly not used to her standard of cleanliness and I think Felin will want this standard for the babies too. She said that babies can catch virus easily and hence everything must be very clean for them. I think its a bit of overdoing it because I think its not necessary for babies to live in a too clean environment. But when I was about to lose my patience, I remembered an advice from a friend. "Always be supportive of your wife. She will not harm the babies." I know what he meant now because his wife is more extreme in term of cleanliness standards. Woman are probably more protective towards the babies as they are so small and fragile. Be understanding...
This is just the start and I have to start imagining when everyone lacks sleep and feel irritated while taking care of the babies, I think our tempers may not be as controlled by then. Having 2 babies are indeed not going to be easy.

34th Week Scan and Dialect name revealed
I have been busy sending my year-end greeting cards and calenders to my clients as well as juggling my daily work in office lately and had little time for other things such as exercising and updating my blog. My twice weekly gym schedule had reduced to one or sometimes none and my diet is back to less healthy. I'm starting to have rice and sugary stuff at night again. I have little time to get fit and energized for the babies and yet I'm giving all sort of excuses lately. Not too happy about it.
Felin and I went for our 34th week growth scan and I'm not particularly happy with the result. Their weight had dropped from previously >50% percentile to the present 16th Percentile for Josiah at 2.12kg and 29th Percentile for Joshua at 2.25kg. Josiah Femur is particularly short at 3rd percentile and Joshua at 33rd percentile. Their abdominal circumference had also dropped to 18th percentile. The only thing big is their head just like Daddy....
Dr Biswal told us that this is okay and I shouldn't be looking too much into the percentile because the weight is actually good and as long as they stay inside with no discomfort to the mother, they will just be fine. Anyway, he arranged for another scan on the 36th week which should be the final scan before the actual delivery to ensure everything will be fine. Hope the babies will continue to absorb all the good nutrients from the mother and grow well in it.

I sent a request to the Singapore Hokkien Huay Guan to seek help in pronouncing my babies names and they are very helpful and came back within a week.
阙予恒 - Khiat Woo Hing
阙予正 - Khiat Woo Chin
I told Felin about the names and she wasn't happy with them because they sound funny to her and difficult to pronounce. I insisted upon these names because I want their names to be as precise as possible to the actual Hokkien pronunciation and not any dialect name. I also do not want to use the Han Yu Pin Yin names to my "Khiat". It is to ensure the Hokkien roots are maintained in their names with the proper pronunciation.
Its another day before we reach our 35th week and it will be a milestone because as long as they are born after 35 weeks and weight above 2kg, they will not be needed to go ICU. Its tough on Felin at this stage because the babies are kicking harder and her legs are now swollen probably due to water retention lately. Its just another 13 days to go before 2015 and 23 days before their arrival. Woo Hoo...

Still confused at week 34
We are getting closer to our D-Day and the mediacorp TV are counting down to 2015 everyday. As long as the babies can wait till 2015, we will just be satisfied. Today's TV is showing 19 days to 2015 and we are like counting down excitedly towards it.
I was surprised when Felin dug out so many new things for me to wash, despite the hundred of clothes that we had already washed. They are all new towels, clothes, swaddles, bedsheets, car seat covers, blankets, etc...
As of today, we are still unsure of many things such as whether to put the babies on 2 cots or on the floor after 2 months, whether they come into our rooms or to remain in their own room, etc...
On Thursday night, Felin woke up and was unable to fall back to sleep, we started talking about domestic helper. She told me that she don't like the idea of having another stranger in the house, She dislike losing the privacy and making our house feel smaller. I suggested infant care but she was very against it citing that they will fall sick very easily and they are too fragile for it.
We were also not sure if Mum will be happy taking care of our babies and whether Mum's help is still necessary if we are to engage a domestic worker. We are also unsure whether to get the worker now or probably 3-4 months after birth because Felin are very likely quitting her job after her maternity leave. There are really so many things which we are unsure and yet the D-day seems to creep nearer. We are not very proactive with the domestic helper issue and yet it seems urgent at this stage.
Nevertheless, we continue with our shopping at Tampines today and purchased a few new clothings for the babies. We had a relaxing evening and took pictures of our study table which we decided to give away. This table is somehow too big and we wanted to make better use of our bay window by putting our modular wooden cubes to be used as a storage area and as a diaper changing table. We kinda miss this table because it had accompanied me from my old house and served me well over the years. I posted in the Livia facebook page to if anyone wanted my table and I received a request within 10 minutes. This table will be gone by tomorrow and hence I post this picture below as a memory for myself. "Good Bye Table..., please serve your new master well."

D-Day pushed back to 10th January 2015
We had our 33rd week check-up on Monday and we encountered Dr Su having to go for a delivery for her patient again. The waiting time this time round is about 4 hours starting from our scheduled 2:50pm appointment to 6:50pm when we left. We are again the last to leave. Don't understand why we are always the last.
Felin mentioned about her seemingly contractions and the suspected leakage of her amniotic fluid to Dr Su. Dr Su conducted some test to confirm that there wasn't any leakages and assured Felin that as long as the contraction don't come regular, it should be fine. She then did her usual scan and we listened to our favourite sound of the ultrasound machine, which are the babies heart beats. We are just so glad to know that the babies are doing well in Felin's womb. Joshua is now in breach position and they are not in position for a normal delivery. Dr Su told us that she will only do the C-Section on the 38th week which is 10th January 2015. I'm pretty worried about this because the longer we delay, the likelihood of emergencies simply increase too. I just afraid of those emergency situations where I have to drive all the way to NUH in anxiety.
We will be going for our 34th week scan next Monday and I'm really curious about the babies weight. Felin weight had increased from 48kg pre pregnancy to current 65.8kg as of week 33. I really hope the babies will cooperate next week and allow us to take a good picture of them.
Dr Su will be on leave till boxing day and Dr Biswal will be taking over our case. We had requested for hospitalisation leave from 26th December onwards and Dr Su agreed that she will issue it to us by then. Felin will take a 2 weeks break before the D-Day...

The Daddy's nesting instinct...
I am counting by days, and I thank God that he allows the babies to stay in Felin's womb for every day that passes. We are still counting down to our D-Date of 5th January 2015 for the Grand arrival of Joshua and Josiah. The babies are kicking more regularly and intensely nowadays, and Felin will shout "Ouch" sometimes. She is asking me to give her more regular messages on her legs after one of the nights when she suffered a cramp.
I was pretty busy over the past 1 week with work, but every night, I will not fail to visit the baby's room after work and see what things are that are not done. I finally purchased my 4" foam mattress and started decorating the baby cot. I bought a 2nd hand Baby Rocker via Gum Tree and collected it at Ang Mo Kio. I removed the cloth part of the stroller and Rocker and washed them over the weekend. I threw a lot of files and notes from my study room and packed some books to be relocated to Mum's place. Even Dad dismantled the old wardrobe and bed in my old room and purchased new ones to get it baby-friendly.
Felin is very relaxed, and I have mixed feelings about it. It's good that she feels relaxed so that babies will also relax. Her happy-go-lucky attitude should be positive for the babies. It's probably the Daddy overthinking and stressing himself out. The nesting instinct of a mummy is transferred to the Daddy.
Daddy keeps cleaning and organising the house almost every day with an overwhelming desire to prepare for the babies' arrival. Daddy even took out the breast pump and started analyzing and charging the equipment. They are all charged up and ready. On the flip side, I am concerned about whether Felin is getting enough knowledge to be prepared for what might come as a surprise. Well, more things are being done every day, and I would prefer a more relaxed attitude towards it. We just need to pray and believe that they are blessed babies.

Couple Time before the big day
Felin and I spent quite a bit of couple time together during the weekend and we made some progress towards preparing for our babies arrival.
I was busy working on Saturday, having to manage 2 meetings and to help out at our Movie event "Penguin of Madagascar" at Vivocity where I invited 23 guests. I had my own ticket for the movie but decided to give it a miss and I drove back home right after the event to book another movie "Big Hero 6" at Tampines Mall GV with the pop corns and drinks I took from our movie event. I really don't wish to watch a movie without Felin and I have been asking her to watch "Big Hero 6" with me over the past 2 weeks. This should be our very last movie together as a couple without children. We had been enjoying movies together over the past 12 years and watching movies in future might be different. "Big Hero 6" is a really funny show and we enjoyed it a lot.
Sunday was church service as usual and we went for lunch at Changi Village. We love the Chendol there and again we treasure all these moments together where we can eat with so much peace. After lunch, we started packing all the babies clothes that we just washed into their drawers. I also transferred my gardening area to my room's balcony and started throwing stuffs from my study room. A lot of files still need to be scanned and thrown. My future domestic worker will be staying in that room.
Felin cooked a sumptuous and nutrition meal before we headed to Bedok Kiddy Palace for somehow our final purchases. Felin can't stand for more than 30 minutes nowadays and its very difficult for her to shop now. She have been trying to find clothes that she love for the babies which she want to let them wear on the first day they come back home. Looks like she can hardly find time to do so now.
The next 2 weeks are very crucial weeks because if babies are to arrive before week 35, they will need to ward into NICU. Its 1st December now and we will both treasure and walk through this challenging month together..

Detailed scanning at week 31
Our last scan was at week 28 and Felin and I have been counting our blessings for every week that the babies remain in Felin's body. We are praying hard for full term babies. We believe that they are blessed babies and will definitely be born full term.
Its our 31st week scan last Monday and everything been going well. The babies weight are 1.887kg and 1.813kg. The result are good but both of them are again not facing the right direction for photo taking. Both babies don't seems to enjoy taking photo.
We spent nearly 5 hours in the hospital today because Dr Su need to go for an operation halfway during the check-up. Our Medical appointment ended as late as nearly 7pm. Its tiring today but we were just glad things are just going as we wish for. Our initial plan to go Shopping and Movie was hence postponed.

Last time back to Malaysia as a couple
Few things happened over the last few days. My Parkway Centre office is finally going to be rented out after 8 months. Felt relieved that a tenant was finally found before the babies arrive. Really learnt a lot throughout this process especially when disagreements happened among the directors. There are still quite a lot of work to do before the Tenancy Agreement is signed. Hope all things goes well and a burden off my mind... My car is also finally converted from the off peak car to a normal car. I'm happy to be able to drive to work over past 2 days too.
Its was our last trip back to Malaysia this weekend and an opportunity to buy whatever needed over there. We visited some of the major stores that sell baby items and spent over RM300. This is equivalent to about $120 but we really purchased quite a lot of small items over there which in Singapore should cost more. Our "Things to Buy" list are nearly completed and glad with it. I also vacuumed my car using FIW's special vacuum machine and now my car seems to be cleaner and smell fresher.
On Sunday, we had dim sum for breakfast. I think it will be very long we will be able to have breakfast like what we usually did today. Its nearly impossible to bring the babies to such places and be able to have breakfast peacefully. For kids to be able to withstand the warm and crowded condition there, we may need another 3 years time. I think I may miss the Dim Sum there in future.
As we were travelling back to Singapore, the Jam in Malaysia customs caused us with a 2.5hrs journey back home. I am wondering if our babies are able to withstand such long journey in future. We are really considering whether to bring the babies back for the next Chinese New Year on 19th Feb. I'm not comfortable to travel under such traffic jam condition for the kids.
We had Domino Pizza at Elias Mall before reaching home at 8:30pm. I started unpacking all the stuffs that we purchased and washed all the clothes. We took the pregnancy photos meant for 8th month. We are about 1 week short of it but we took it nevertheless. We were also going through the baby gifts for babies who will be born in 2015 as part of SG50. We were hoping that our babies can arrive only in 2015, not only for the gift but for our desire that they arrive full term. Pray hard pray hard...
We are going to meet the babies again tomorrow for a detailed scan and hope the babies can cooperate and turn nicely upwards so that we can take a good picture of them tomorrow. Intends to watch movie and some shopping with Felin after our check-up tomorrow afternoon too. We are left with little time to be together as a couple and hope to treasure every moment.

My Wonderful and Loving Mother
I complained to mum that I have no time to wash all the hands me down clothes that was given by friends during a family dinner recently and mum immediately offered to help me wash them. She is free during this period before the new Bedok Hawker Centre open. Felin and I was amazed at the amount of clothes that are handed down to us and I felt its somehow exaggerated. Babies will outgrow these clothes so fast that they may not be able to wear some of the clothes even the 2nd time.
Mum even ironed the clothes before stacking them up. She is such a wonderful mother but groomed a lazy boy like me. I think its my turn to work for my own children in future.
Felin entered into her 31st week today and her tummy is really big. The babies are still growing fast and kicking her more forcefully now. I'm worried about her health and my heart ache when I see her carrying such a big tummy but I'm also worry about the babies that haven't stayed long enough and praying that they are still comfortable in Felin's womb and not tempted to come out yet.
So what is happening to the babies at week 31? Let see from the babycentre website...
During your 31st week of pregnancy, your baby's body and brain continue to make the connections that enable her systems to work as a whole. Also when you’re 31 weeks pregnant:

- When you’re 31 weeks pregnant, your baby weighs more than 3 pounds and is 11 inches long from crown to rump, about the length of a bunch of bok choy.
- Your baby's reproductive system continues to develop. In boys, testicles are moving from the kidneys through the groin to the scrotum. In girls, her clitoris is visible, but her labia are still growing to cover it.
- Your baby's lungs are now more developed but are not completely mature.
- As trillions of brain connections develop, your baby is already using all five senses.
- You might notice that your baby has more defined periods of being awake (and active) or asleep

Entered 30th week point with anxieties heating up
We are on route to the babies' 31st week and I'm certainly getting nervous about it. There seems not much time left to get myself prepared to be a Father. A new milestone is going to happen very soon and a whole life different from what I use to live everyday.
From what I gathered, twins tends to be born about 37th to 38th week. In many instances, the babies may arrive early, probably in 34th - 36th weeks. If the pessimistic projection of 34th week is true, it means I may be seeing the babies in about 3 weeks time. Me, Felin, our Cell Group and I are all praying for full term baby. I also requested my sister to join in the prayer. Our prayer is that the babies arrive on 5th Jan 2015 which will be our babies 37th week 4 days if our prayer comes true. We just want to bake the babies for as long as possible so that they can develop fully in Felin's womb.
I still have many things left undone at work. I haven't send all my greeting cards and calenders, I haven't write my year end message. I haven't done up my slides for my next seminar on Insurance Planning. I haven't research on the PIC claims, etc... I also have many usual daily stuffs to do such as HR appointments, Management of advisers and staffs, my usual general insurance renewals, Claims, client's proposals and appointment to prepare, etc...
Moreover, my sales wasn't too good over the past few months and considering a likely next few months of lower activities and lack of sleep ahead are definitely not going to help for my sales for the entire banding year. If sales don't come in over the next 4-7 weeks, it will be difficult to catch up from my lower business in first half of the banding year.
On top of work anxieties, there are parental anxieties on whether I have prepared adequately for the babies arrival and whether I can withstand the feeling of lack of sleep, whether the confinement lady engage is good, whether we can get a domestic helper soon, etc...
Statistically wise, babies may arrive as early as 3 weeks time but I must pray beyond statistics and believe that Joshua and Josiah are blessed babies who will come only in 2015... which means coming in 7 weeks time. I'll pray that Felin will be able withstand the babies weight if they really gets to 37th week.
Pray Pray Pray. Let God take control...

Gift from Great Grandmother
Joshua and Josiah received a gift from their Great Grandmother today. I felt that my babies are fortunate to receive a gift 3 generations down. Happy that Ah Ma's health is still good and is able to buy gifts for the babies. She purchased it during her recent holiday in China.
It is a must that I take picture of my babies together with Ah Ma as soon as they are to meet and if possible, must let Ah Ma carry them in the photoshoot. This photo will be very important for me to tell them about my Ah Ma one day as they gets older.
Ah Ma is a very strong 91 years old lady. I remember her birthdate on her NRIC is just a 1923 without the day and month. However we always celebrate her birthday around August. My last time going for a holiday with her was in 2010 when we visited her hometown in Zhao An. She shared her life story as a 16 years old girl who feed prawns in her hometown before coming to Singapore. I have yet to verify if she was once a Samsui woman during her younger days. Even till today, she still help out uncle at his Hokkien Mee stall with my mother.
I have to personally thanks Ah Ma when I next see her. Above picture was taken in Aug 14 during her last birthday celebration...

Our Staycation in Sentosa
We have been planning for our last vacation before the babies arrive but ended up with a local staycation because it is pretty difficult to travel anywhere else at this stage. Felin can't go cruise, can't take ferry or plane and was not advisable to travel too long on the road.
We set off at 11am on 8th Nov (Sat) where we had brunch at Bedok South Blk 18 market before going Sentosa. After brunch, our first stop was Sentosa Cove Village where we had a nice stroll along the jetty. Its a pretty hot day but we enjoyed the scenic and quiet view. There must be a lot of rich people staying there with all the boats and clubs around there. We then had pizza and salad as lunch.

There must be a lot of rich people staying there with all the boats and clubs around there. We then had pizza and salad as lunch.
Thereafter, we proceeded to the Siloso Beach Resort where we booked the deluxe room over 2 nights. The resort is not very new but what I like are the greenery and the pool with that huge waterfall. I swam during the 2nd night and I really enjoyed it. It was really shiok standing under that waterfall and going down the slide heads down.
Other than that, I also love the seaside view at the roof-top.
We quickly checked in and strolled along the road towards the monorail station and took the monorail to Movenpick Heritage Hotel for our ice-cream. We had their Vanilla and Walnut ice-cream over 10 minutes but we shamelessly sat in the café for nearly 45 minutes drinking their water and read our books. Its really yummy and relaxing...
We went back hotel for a short rest before taking the Monorail to Vivocity for Dinner. Felin need to buy her contact lens liquid. We had Nasi Lemak at Madam Kwan and we were pretty satisfied with the meal which we don't need to spend too much to enjoy.
As it was raining heavily after dinner, we then shopped for a while and rested in Muji till about 10pm. As it was late, we scrambled to buy umbrella but interestingly the rain stopped right after we paid for the umbrella. We took the monorail back and reached hotel at about 11:15pm. We were tired and I slept well but Felin unfortunately woke up quite a number of times throughout the night due to the babies kicks.
Our second day started with breakfast where we enjoyed their own grown vegetables and pastries. After breakfast, we went for a short walk at Siloso Beach before going back to sleep till about 12noon.
We took our instant noodle using the toothbrush from hotel before walking around hotel and laze near the pool area with a book and titbits we brought from home. That was relaxing indeed. We also had a very nice Coconut ice-cream just right outside our hotel.
Initially planned to visit the SEA Aquarium in the afternoon only to find out that the aquarium was closed earlier at 4pm and we changed plan to have the Hokkien Mee and Chendol at the Malaysia food court and bought the Melaka Chicken rice back hotel for dinner. Along the way, we strolled along the Siloso beach and dipped our legs in the sea.
After the relaxing walk, we went back hotel. I went for a swim and Felin just laze about. After the shiok shiok swim, we had dinner and watched TV together and talked throughout the night till we Zzzz...
We had nearly 9 hours of sleep that night and felt refreshed. We had breakfast and ready to check out. We proceeded to Vivocity to park our car before going back Sentosa with our 3 days Sentosa monorail pass to the Aquarium. It was probably a blessing that we did not went on Sunday because Monday morning are less crowded at the Aquarium and we really enjoyed our 2 hours there.
We officially ended our staycation with lunch at the Malaysia Foodcourt and had our favourite Chicken rice again. We took the Monorail back to Vivocity where I drove Felin back to work and me back to office for the day... Overall, we enjoyed the staycation and had good rest during the 2 nights. We are satisfied with this staycation and shall now look forward the arrival of our babies in 2 months time.

Our decision on Confinement Lady
Our babies had reached their 29th week milestone today and its only 1 week ago that we decided on a Confinement Lady. All along, MIL insisted that she is able to care for the babies and wanted us to trust her. I can see that she is very kind and wanted to help us save the $$$. I know that she keep converting the $4k into Ringgit and that 10kRinggit looks like a huge amount.
I posted a question in twins Babies SG facebook page on whether or not to engage a confinement lady and I received many comments where fellow parents of twins shared their experiences. Some feedback that they managed without Confinement Lady and some couldn't. I had decided that its better to engage so that Felin is able to have better rest during the month especially if she is going to have C-section. We can also take it as a one month course where we can learn from the confinement lady about caring for babies. Its probably also better to avoid letting Mum and MIL to interact too much during the more stressful confinement month. We had hence request MIL to come over to support us during the 2nd month after the Confinement Lady left.
The only thing we hope is that the confinement lady is good. She was recommended by my mum's friend but when I asked my mum to share what her friend told her, she have no idea at all why her friend said that she was good. We then interviewed the confinement lady over the phone twice and get to know that she was a ex-nurse in Medan (Indonesia), taking care of babies in hospital for 20 years. She is a Chinese and had been a confinement lady for the past 11-12 years and claimed to have twins experience too. She agreed to $3,400 which include her air-ticket from Medan. Just pray that she is really able to help by then...
Below are some extract of those who advised us to engage CL...

Start of Felin's Third Trimester
Felin entered her 3rd Trimester last Thursday and we are on our way to the babies 29th week. We are praying hard for a 2015 baby because if the babies enter 2015, they will be full term babies. Susan and Andy's babies will be arriving today and they are 37th weeks. They are such good and positive examples where twins arrived at full term.
Felin have been experiencing symptoms of a 3rd trimester pregnancy lately. Fatigue and breathlessness after a pretty short walk. Her legs are getting swollen with the weight of her tummy, which looks like a watermelon now. She gets occasional heartburn and more frequent urination.
During the week, I had booked for our first staycation at Siloso Beach Resort. It will be from 8th to 10th November. It cost me $600+ with taxes for 2 days. They include 2 tickets to Universal World but I'd changed it to the SEA Aquarium. I'd planned to visit the Wax Museum and walk around Sentosa Cove. Its been years I last visited the museum. We had prepared drinks and titbits for the trip already too. Really look forward to next week.
During the week, we changed our mind and decided to engage the confinement lady which my mum introduced. She was a retired nurse from Indonesia who claims to work as a confinement lady in Medan for more than 13 years. We will be flying her in from Indonesia and I hope she is able to help out during the confinement month. We are not too sure about her capabilities except a lot of assurance from her so call "Sister" in Singapore.
On Thursday, I did my first Corporate Seminar. It was a resolution that I set for myself during the early days of Felin's pregnancy and I achieved it. I really spent a lot of time preparing for the day with all the slides, research and preparation. It went off pretty successful but with a mistake that I made during Q&A that made me uncomfortable.
During the weekend, we had our final Pre-natal class at NUH. Think of it, I seems to have forgotten what I had learnt over the past 6 weeks. Looks like everything going to be on the job training by then.
It was very relaxing over the past 1 week as I spent quite a lot of time with Felin, especially during the night when we just lay on the bed enjoying the quiet time spent together. We knew that tough days are ahead and we just need to get ourselves prepared for it to come. I talked to the babies and thinking of naming Joshua to Jeshua. As for Josiah, Felin aren't too comfortable yet as she feels that too many people does not know how to pronounce the name. Thinking that I can easily call "Jes and Jo" in future when I need to call the kids.
We packed the babies room and clear some stuffs off the room to prepare more items that are expected to come in. During the weekend, I also played all the 3 musical instrument that I knew for the mummy and babies. I don't play well but I think these sound might be able to stimulate the babies brain a bit. Hopefully. haha... Btw, the Saxophone was purchased by Dad when I passed my O'levels exam nearly 20 years ago. How time flies. The Saxophone was 20 years old already.
The week going to be tough as I need a lot of catching up with my personal Sales. It was extremely slow during the whole month of October. I was spending too much time preparing the seminar and on the baby preparation that I neglected my work. I was also too much with the issues at Parkway Centre where renovation started with quite problematic issues going on.
Am thinking whether I should do the last thing in my resolution which is to start on my ChFC paper certification after seeing Johnny completing 2 papers within a month. At least I started working on it even if it fails. It will be really tough if I decided to embark on this and I think only God can help me achieve what I wanted and yet providing me with good sales ahead... I am really fearful that it will affect my sales.
First, I think I must manage my time even tighter. I may need to write less on this blog and less time on facebook. I need to stay focused at work and have better idea what I want to do daily. I really need God to be by my side to help me. Lord, I need you. Thank you...

Fruitful weekend
Our babies are now in their 27 weeks 3 days today. Both Felin and I are gathering pace towards our preparation for our babies arrival. Mum recommended a confinement lady who is a retired nurse and have been working as a confinement lady over the past 12-13 years. She is an Indonesia and the cost of engaging her is within our budget of $3,400 over 28 days. We had a hard time making this decision. We worry if MIL remembers how to handle babies and yet its to handle twins. We are not really confident but after thinking through, we also have mother to assist with the cooking and Dad as the driver to help run errands, we are very likely not getting the confinement lady afterall. We are likely take risk and save this fund for other uses in future. I shall save $1,500 into their bank account for not using confinement lady. Pray hard that we are able to handle the tough time ahead afterall...
We visited Faith and Christine over the weekend. Both of them are mothers of twins. Faith's children are already nearly 4 years old. She shared her initial days as a mother and her breastfeeding experience with Felin. She reminded us to first take care of ourselves so that we can take care of the children and not to get too stressed. She warned us to be patient and to control our temperament during this period.
Christine's children are now coming to 1 years old and she also shared that we should continue to have our "Me" and "Couple" time. We must not start carrying the babies too easily whenever they cry because the babies will be so used to it that they will always cry and seek our attention. She set routine to their lifestyle such as letting them sleep as early as 7pm during the early days. Faith passed us her breastfeeding pillow and some babies playcard. Christine passed Isaac's clothings to us. After visiting them and seeing how happy and adorable their children are, all I can say is that all the hardwork put by them are truly worth it.
After Church Service today, I managed to meet Alec and Foong Peng and talked for a short while about parenting. Alec reminded me that Father is the most important part of son's growing process. He emphasized that son need the type of discipline that only Father can bring and son follows the example of their Father. He also reminded that I have to bring our children more towards enjoying music and nature and let them know the wonders of God and that he is in control. If we are to give them too much time on computers and TV, they will only understand the wonders of man and probably lose interest towards God.
During the weekend, we also learn about breastfeeding during our antenatal class and we went for our Dim Sum buffet at Ah Yat Abalone Restaurant. We also spent about $300+ dollars just buying babies items such as towels, blankets, Swaddle, diaper mat, nursing bra, maternity clothings, etc... We also are expected to spend about $700 for roller blind at balcony and study room and approximately another $800 for window's solar screen. Probably all these which add up to nearly $2,000 over the weekend affects my decision on the confinement lady.
Felin's tummy is getting bigger by day and Dad drove her to MRT station every morning and try to fetch her from MRT back home. Dad is really nice and Felin is very touched by his gesture. She gets breathless quite easily now and going to work is getting tougher. We just hope we can carry the babies to as far as possible. Faith and Christine both had unexpected experience of needing to give birth as early as like 30+ week and babies as small as less than 2kg.
As for myself, sales have been really extremely slow because I have busy with my preparation for my first ever seminar on 30th Oct. I spent hours every day, researching and doing up my presentation slides over the weeks. I was busy with interviewing telemarketers, buying computers, registering with CPF as a new employer, going for HR appts, etc... A lot of non sales related issues but I really am excited about this Thursday maiden talk. I'm still not ready at this stage... I have also been active with my gym training and Alvin are expected to be with me soon for training. I think God did heard my prayer and he is giving me a breakthrough on my fitness and confidence towards seminar though at expense of my personal sales. I will need to continue to pray hard and trust God in everything...

Its life as usual for the moment
Felin and I have been busy with work that we somehow let time passed without the anxieties for the moment. We went for our weekly Antenatal classes at NUH where we learned Physiotheraphy for Labour last week. There was this couple who are also expecting 2 baby boys and the wife is smaller in statue and tummy bigger than Felin.
During a meeting last week with Susan and Andy, they shared about the class they attended at http://1st60days.com and gave rave reviews about it. I asked Felin to check out the course and see if we can arrange to attend too.
We got our 2nd Combi Carseat last Saturday and happy about the hazelnut colour that matches our car best. The cloth are a bit worn out but I think its still good to use for the next 2-3 years. The size is perfect and Felin or our future domestic worker is definitely able to squeeze in between the seats. Its time to learn how to secure the seats.
We went to Pooi Kuan's baby shower on Saturday and I have to say that her son is truly adorable. His name is Joel and will be similar to our babies Joshua and Josiah. There are a lot of Baby "J"s lately. He did not cry a single time throughout the 3-4 hours we spent at the function room. He allows everyone to carry him and is cool about it. He got nice features and I'm sure he will grow up really handsome. Still hoping they will consider getting the insurance plans through me soon.
This week is also an interesting week where another 3 friends delivered their babies. There are some level of admiration at times on how I wish my babies will be like this or that and some degree of anxiety if the boys will be healthy or hyper active, etc... but I supposed that I shouldn't make any comparison and regardless how they are, they are still my babies.
As for Felin, she is having difficulty sleeping at night. When she sleeps by her side, the baby below will tend to kick her and when she lies on her back, the weight of the babies make her uncomfortable. Her sleep are also very light and she wake up at the slightest noise. This makes her tired and caught a flu last week. She went back Malaysia during the Deepavali holiday after our checkup on Tues and had a nice long rest. Her tummy is quite big as if she is ready to give birth anytime. We are contemplating if she should get complete bed rest by week 34 or 35.
Our checkup show that everything been fine and we will have a detailed 3rd Trimester scan on 4th Nov. It will be nearly 29th weeks by then. Can't wait to see the babies via the detailed scan. I sometimes are not able to figure what Dr Su is scanning lately as the babies are getting bigger. The most important thing during all these checkups is probably to hear their heartbeats.
As for today, Justina just passed me her Baby Bathing mat, a diaper changing station and a playpen. Faith is passing me her Baby feeding pillow and Christine are passing me her son's clothings. There are so many people blessing us with these items and I think by the time come, it will be our turn to bless others. Faith and Christine are both parents of twins and I should ask Felin to accompany me to meet them to pass some tips to us.

Thinking of our last vacation before babies arrive
We were really late in planning for this. We initially planned to go for a cruise (Star Gemini) but only to find out that once Felin reaches 24th week, the cruise will not accept us onboard. We then thought of going Batam or Bintan Club Med only to learn that we cannot board the ferry once we reached 28th weeks, unless with Doctor's certification. As we need to complete our antenatal class, it will be over 28th week by then. I then thought of going Malaysia Desaru Pulai Resort but Felin told me that she is not comfortable if the place does not have a proper hospital. Felin is also not comfortable travelling on a plane at this stage. That left us with only a Staycation in Singapore.
One place we thought that we can be furthest from Singapore island will be Sentosa.
The range of Resort World, Festive Hotel, Hotel Michael, Movenpick, etc... are far too expensive and cost between $450 to $600 per night. If we are going to stay 2 nights, it will cost us nearly a thousand dollars.
Then I thought of Costa Sand Sentosa which will cost lesser at about $200/night and moreover I can use quite a bit of my linkpoints to pay but I afraid Felin may not fully enjoy it because it is nevertheless a Chalet and not hotel. The closest I can think of will be this Siloso Beach Resort which I can book the Roof Garden Suite at $325/night. The seaview seems good and the room is quite big at 50sqm. Actually, if we chose the superior rooms, they are actually even cheaper than Costa Sand at only $193/night.
Just that the reviews are not as good citing the services wasn't up to standard or the place a bit run down and breakfast not so nice. Not sure whether to just spend the money and go to a top notched hotel or just go for an okay one.
Other options I have will be the Amara Sanctuary and the Singapore Resort and Spa Sentosa which is managed by Accor. Their standard seems to be better than Siloso Resort but they are pretty out of nowhere on the island. To get out, we need to take their shuttle bus and on review, the shuttle bus seems to take forever to arrive. The top picture shows the Amara Santuary and the below one shows the Singapore Resort and Spa. Price wise, they are about $300/night as indicated in Agoda for their standard rooms. Well... Just some ideas in mind and need time to consider...

New items over the weekend
Weekends are always busy for me and Felin. Last Saturday was our 4th Antenatal class and it was on Physiotherapy. That was quite an interesting class as husbands were taught on how to message their wives for this class. I did managed to learn few new techniques during the class.
We proceeded to collect the Combi Car Seat cover ($12) at Bukit Timah area and the car seat ($100) at Yishun before proceeding for lunch at Chong Pang Market. We then went over to Hougang to view another combi car seat but we did not take it up because it wasn't our choice model.
I then went for my appt at Choa Chu Kang and Ta Bao dinner for Felin. We watched TV together and thereafter started discussion about other items about the babies. Felin was down with Flu and she slept slightly earlier. I was dead tired too because Felin did not slept well the night before and both of us slept little.
On Sunday, I went for an appt at Great World City and after that I proceeded to collect a Capella Stroller($90) from South Buona Vista. Its the 1st item that we completed a set. I am pretty satisfied with my 2nd hand purchases so far as they cost less than 1/3 of the item prices and they are usually still in rather good conditions. Hope Mum or MIL will not nag us for buying all 2nd hand items so far.
We then went Tampines Mall for some shopping and had dinner at Ding Tai Feng. What a nice dinner to prepare for the new week ahead. Thereafter, we went to collect few huggies infant diapers from Jacqueline's place. She also shared a lot with us about her experience with Avery over the past 10 months during the meeting. How nice cousins I have...
My plan is not to give my babies all the new and best items. I want to teach them of being humble and frugal. I don't think I'm the type of Father who will pamper them and give them whatever they wants. I want them to stay near to nature, uses less computers. I prefer them let them play in the rain, touch the cats and dogs and not be fussy with food. I think Felin is probably the opposite but when the time comes, there will certainly be some compromises.
We do not have much time left. I was really busy and stressed with all the work piling up and I really need to manage my time better in days ahead...

Busy Busy Busy
Its our babies 25th week today. If they decide to come slightly early, we might even see them in 10 weeks time. Am I ready? Certainly not! I think I can never be ready. Its all going to be OJT (On the Job). I was looking through the facebook page on Twin Babies Sg and seen a lot of tough experiences of those twins mummies. One thing certain is Felin and I are going to be extremely "Busy Busy Busy"... I'm expecting to go with little sleep and gone are the days where I can have long nap and 8 straight hours of sleep. Sleep and prolonged rest are going to be luxury. I'm really worried on how it will affect my work and whether we are able to cope with the twin babies. Not to even mention if I ever have chance to spend time writing on blog like what I'm doing now.
I'm really "Busy Busy Busy" with work lately too. Cases opened in the past are not properly followed up and some became cold and forgotten. I don't know whether they had decided not to do anything to their finances or they had taken plans through other people. Many administrative work, difficult underwriting issues, numerous claims, research and preparation for my first ever seminar with me as speaker etc... and making me busy. It can't stop me wondering how I am able to handle all these when the babies arrive.
I have 10 more weeks to think what I need to do to ensure life be better when they arrive. I may need to learn delegating my work to my admin staff in office or to find domestic help at home. I need to be more productive. I need to put in the right attitude to handle the babies, etc... I think the most important is to build up my spiritual muscles and rest all on the Lord...
So whats happening to the babies at week 25? Lets see how Josiah and Joshua are doing...
Baby's Lungs Are Gearing Up to Breathe
Your baby is growing by leaps and bounds, reaching nine inches in length and passing the pound and a half mark — taller than two juice boxes stacked one on top of the other and almost as heavy as four of them. What else is going on this week? Your baby's skin is turning pinker — not because he or she's getting overheated (in fact, the amniotic fluid is perfectly climate-controlled, keeping your baby at an always comfortable temperature), but because small blood vessels, called capillaries, are forming under the skin and filling with blood. Later this week, blood vessels will also develop in your baby's lungs, bringing them one step closer to full maturity — and one step closer to taking that first breath of fresh air. But at 25 weeks pregnant, those lungs are still very much works in progress. Though they are already beginning to develop surfactant, a substance that will help them expand with oxygen after the baby is born, the lungs are still too undeveloped to sufficiently send oxygen to the bloodstream and release carbon dioxide when baby exhales.
Baby’s Nostrils Open
The lungs aren't the only system that's gearing up for air intake. Your baby's nostrils, which have been plugged up until now, are starting to open this week. This actually allows your little one to begin taking practice breaths. (Of course since there's no air in there, your baby is really only "breathing" amniotic fluid, but it's the practice that counts, right?)

More items in my babies room now
Felin was not able to sleep well the night before. She was stressed over her work and the thought of work made her insomnia. She was contemplating quitting from her job. I know that she just have to endure that 2-3 months to enjoy her 4 months maternity leave but if she is really not able to continue and her stress is affecting the babies, I think this little monetary sacrifice is nothing. I'll support whatever she opts for.
As both of us did not really slept well, we woke up a bit late today at 8am. We dressed up fast and I drove her to work. She reached office at 9:15am. She seems hopeful that I can drive her to work everyday. She is starting to feel uncomfortable on the MRT. The journey to work is so comfortable compared to taking the public transport.
After driving her to work, I proceeded to Expo for the Baby Fair. I queued up half an hour before it open and was one of the first to enter the hall. I just went straight to the Mandela Breast Pump booth and get what I wanted. When I start queuing to pay, a long queue was already forming behind me. Glad that I reached early and saved the time having to queue.
I walked around for a while before going to Zoey's place to collect the cot and baby seat. I was happy to meet her and her children after quite a while we last met. Caden and Jaden are growing well and I enjoyed talking to Caden as he talked about his toys. As both of them are boys, they somehow trigger me that I'll be handling 2 boys in future too. I took the items, thanked Zoey and went back, clean and fixed up the cot and baby gym. Below is a picture on how it looks like.
I will be bringing Felin to the baby fair this weekend and we just going to get more things.
I quickly went back to work and get to know that Casey will be getting another Seminar by mid October. It seems that I'll be forced to talk much earlier than I expect. Getting pretty stressed up now... I'm certainly not giving enough confidence to Casey that I am able to handle the seminar well. Its his ricebowl and source of lead. I just have to do my best for him and Johnny...
Its our PIAS awards night today too and I brought Felin with me to the dinner at Park Royal City Hall. I got the High Performance Award this year but missed the Platinum award because PIAS raise the bar only this year. Only a handful achieving the Platinum award and hence next year, they are reducing the bar again.
I think the happiest moment will be that I'm one of the lucky draw winner to have won $250 Takashimaya vouchers. Less than a year ago, I won $1k and now I got $250. Not too bad, it seems... I do not know what the direct channel will affect me next year but I can only say. Take each step at a time...
