Our babies are now in their 27 weeks 3 days today. Both Felin and I are gathering pace towards our preparation for our babies arrival. Mum recommended a confinement lady who is a retired nurse and have been working as a confinement lady over the past 12-13 years. She is an Indonesia and the cost of engaging her is within our budget of $3,400 over 28 days. We had a hard time making this decision. We worry if MIL remembers how to handle babies and yet its to handle twins. We are not really confident but after thinking through, we also have mother to assist with the cooking and Dad as the driver to help run errands, we are very likely not getting the confinement lady afterall. We are likely take risk and save this fund for other uses in future. I shall save $1,500 into their bank account for not using confinement lady. Pray hard that we are able to handle the tough time ahead afterall...
We visited Faith and Christine over the weekend. Both of them are mothers of twins. Faith's children are already nearly 4 years old. She shared her initial days as a mother and her breastfeeding experience with Felin. She reminded us to first take care of ourselves so that we can take care of the children and not to get too stressed. She warned us to be patient and to control our temperament during this period.
Christine's children are now coming to 1 years old and she also shared that we should continue to have our "Me" and "Couple" time. We must not start carrying the babies too easily whenever they cry because the babies will be so used to it that they will always cry and seek our attention. She set routine to their lifestyle such as letting them sleep as early as 7pm during the early days. Faith passed us her breastfeeding pillow and some babies playcard. Christine passed Isaac's clothings to us. After visiting them and seeing how happy and adorable their children are, all I can say is that all the hardwork put by them are truly worth it.
After Church Service today, I managed to meet Alec and Foong Peng and talked for a short while about parenting. Alec reminded me that Father is the most important part of son's growing process. He emphasized that son need the type of discipline that only Father can bring and son follows the example of their Father. He also reminded that I have to bring our children more towards enjoying music and nature and let them know the wonders of God and that he is in control. If we are to give them too much time on computers and TV, they will only understand the wonders of man and probably lose interest towards God.
During the weekend, we also learn about breastfeeding during our antenatal class and we went for our Dim Sum buffet at Ah Yat Abalone Restaurant. We also spent about $300+ dollars just buying babies items such as towels, blankets, Swaddle, diaper mat, nursing bra, maternity clothings, etc... We also are expected to spend about $700 for roller blind at balcony and study room and approximately another $800 for window's solar screen. Probably all these which add up to nearly $2,000 over the weekend affects my decision on the confinement lady.
Felin's tummy is getting bigger by day and Dad drove her to MRT station every morning and try to fetch her from MRT back home. Dad is really nice and Felin is very touched by his gesture. She gets breathless quite easily now and going to work is getting tougher. We just hope we can carry the babies to as far as possible. Faith and Christine both had unexpected experience of needing to give birth as early as like 30+ week and babies as small as less than 2kg.
As for myself, sales have been really extremely slow because I have busy with my preparation for my first ever seminar on 30th Oct. I spent hours every day, researching and doing up my presentation slides over the weeks. I was busy with interviewing telemarketers, buying computers, registering with CPF as a new employer, going for HR appts, etc... A lot of non sales related issues but I really am excited about this Thursday maiden talk. I'm still not ready at this stage... I have also been active with my gym training and Alvin are expected to be with me soon for training. I think God did heard my prayer and he is giving me a breakthrough on my fitness and confidence towards seminar though at expense of my personal sales. I will need to continue to pray hard and trust God in everything...
So often we heard from the woman sharing about their pregnancy and motherhood experiences but how often do we hear from the man's side? Twins will give us twice the joy, love, laughters and hugs but twice the anxieties as well. I am using this platform to share my experience over the 9 months journey, my experiences as a Daddy and record what I want to tell my Children. This blog writes largely about them and is written specially for them.

Its life as usual for the moment
Felin and I have been busy with work that we somehow let time passed without the anxieties for the moment. We went for our weekly Antenatal classes at NUH where we learned Physiotheraphy for Labour last week. There was this couple who are also expecting 2 baby boys and the wife is smaller in statue and tummy bigger than Felin.
During a meeting last week with Susan and Andy, they shared about the class they attended at http://1st60days.com and gave rave reviews about it. I asked Felin to check out the course and see if we can arrange to attend too.
We got our 2nd Combi Carseat last Saturday and happy about the hazelnut colour that matches our car best. The cloth are a bit worn out but I think its still good to use for the next 2-3 years. The size is perfect and Felin or our future domestic worker is definitely able to squeeze in between the seats. Its time to learn how to secure the seats.
We went to Pooi Kuan's baby shower on Saturday and I have to say that her son is truly adorable. His name is Joel and will be similar to our babies Joshua and Josiah. There are a lot of Baby "J"s lately. He did not cry a single time throughout the 3-4 hours we spent at the function room. He allows everyone to carry him and is cool about it. He got nice features and I'm sure he will grow up really handsome. Still hoping they will consider getting the insurance plans through me soon.
This week is also an interesting week where another 3 friends delivered their babies. There are some level of admiration at times on how I wish my babies will be like this or that and some degree of anxiety if the boys will be healthy or hyper active, etc... but I supposed that I shouldn't make any comparison and regardless how they are, they are still my babies.
As for Felin, she is having difficulty sleeping at night. When she sleeps by her side, the baby below will tend to kick her and when she lies on her back, the weight of the babies make her uncomfortable. Her sleep are also very light and she wake up at the slightest noise. This makes her tired and caught a flu last week. She went back Malaysia during the Deepavali holiday after our checkup on Tues and had a nice long rest. Her tummy is quite big as if she is ready to give birth anytime. We are contemplating if she should get complete bed rest by week 34 or 35.
Our checkup show that everything been fine and we will have a detailed 3rd Trimester scan on 4th Nov. It will be nearly 29th weeks by then. Can't wait to see the babies via the detailed scan. I sometimes are not able to figure what Dr Su is scanning lately as the babies are getting bigger. The most important thing during all these checkups is probably to hear their heartbeats.
As for today, Justina just passed me her Baby Bathing mat, a diaper changing station and a playpen. Faith is passing me her Baby feeding pillow and Christine are passing me her son's clothings. There are so many people blessing us with these items and I think by the time come, it will be our turn to bless others. Faith and Christine are both parents of twins and I should ask Felin to accompany me to meet them to pass some tips to us.

Thinking of our last vacation before babies arrive
We were really late in planning for this. We initially planned to go for a cruise (Star Gemini) but only to find out that once Felin reaches 24th week, the cruise will not accept us onboard. We then thought of going Batam or Bintan Club Med only to learn that we cannot board the ferry once we reached 28th weeks, unless with Doctor's certification. As we need to complete our antenatal class, it will be over 28th week by then. I then thought of going Malaysia Desaru Pulai Resort but Felin told me that she is not comfortable if the place does not have a proper hospital. Felin is also not comfortable travelling on a plane at this stage. That left us with only a Staycation in Singapore.
One place we thought that we can be furthest from Singapore island will be Sentosa.
The range of Resort World, Festive Hotel, Hotel Michael, Movenpick, etc... are far too expensive and cost between $450 to $600 per night. If we are going to stay 2 nights, it will cost us nearly a thousand dollars.
Then I thought of Costa Sand Sentosa which will cost lesser at about $200/night and moreover I can use quite a bit of my linkpoints to pay but I afraid Felin may not fully enjoy it because it is nevertheless a Chalet and not hotel. The closest I can think of will be this Siloso Beach Resort which I can book the Roof Garden Suite at $325/night. The seaview seems good and the room is quite big at 50sqm. Actually, if we chose the superior rooms, they are actually even cheaper than Costa Sand at only $193/night.
Just that the reviews are not as good citing the services wasn't up to standard or the place a bit run down and breakfast not so nice. Not sure whether to just spend the money and go to a top notched hotel or just go for an okay one.
Other options I have will be the Amara Sanctuary and the Singapore Resort and Spa Sentosa which is managed by Accor. Their standard seems to be better than Siloso Resort but they are pretty out of nowhere on the island. To get out, we need to take their shuttle bus and on review, the shuttle bus seems to take forever to arrive. The top picture shows the Amara Santuary and the below one shows the Singapore Resort and Spa. Price wise, they are about $300/night as indicated in Agoda for their standard rooms. Well... Just some ideas in mind and need time to consider...

New items over the weekend
Weekends are always busy for me and Felin. Last Saturday was our 4th Antenatal class and it was on Physiotherapy. That was quite an interesting class as husbands were taught on how to message their wives for this class. I did managed to learn few new techniques during the class.
We proceeded to collect the Combi Car Seat cover ($12) at Bukit Timah area and the car seat ($100) at Yishun before proceeding for lunch at Chong Pang Market. We then went over to Hougang to view another combi car seat but we did not take it up because it wasn't our choice model.
I then went for my appt at Choa Chu Kang and Ta Bao dinner for Felin. We watched TV together and thereafter started discussion about other items about the babies. Felin was down with Flu and she slept slightly earlier. I was dead tired too because Felin did not slept well the night before and both of us slept little.
On Sunday, I went for an appt at Great World City and after that I proceeded to collect a Capella Stroller($90) from South Buona Vista. Its the 1st item that we completed a set. I am pretty satisfied with my 2nd hand purchases so far as they cost less than 1/3 of the item prices and they are usually still in rather good conditions. Hope Mum or MIL will not nag us for buying all 2nd hand items so far.
We then went Tampines Mall for some shopping and had dinner at Ding Tai Feng. What a nice dinner to prepare for the new week ahead. Thereafter, we went to collect few huggies infant diapers from Jacqueline's place. She also shared a lot with us about her experience with Avery over the past 10 months during the meeting. How nice cousins I have...
My plan is not to give my babies all the new and best items. I want to teach them of being humble and frugal. I don't think I'm the type of Father who will pamper them and give them whatever they wants. I want them to stay near to nature, uses less computers. I prefer them let them play in the rain, touch the cats and dogs and not be fussy with food. I think Felin is probably the opposite but when the time comes, there will certainly be some compromises.
We do not have much time left. I was really busy and stressed with all the work piling up and I really need to manage my time better in days ahead...

Busy Busy Busy
Its our babies 25th week today. If they decide to come slightly early, we might even see them in 10 weeks time. Am I ready? Certainly not! I think I can never be ready. Its all going to be OJT (On the Job). I was looking through the facebook page on Twin Babies Sg and seen a lot of tough experiences of those twins mummies. One thing certain is Felin and I are going to be extremely "Busy Busy Busy"... I'm expecting to go with little sleep and gone are the days where I can have long nap and 8 straight hours of sleep. Sleep and prolonged rest are going to be luxury. I'm really worried on how it will affect my work and whether we are able to cope with the twin babies. Not to even mention if I ever have chance to spend time writing on blog like what I'm doing now.
I'm really "Busy Busy Busy" with work lately too. Cases opened in the past are not properly followed up and some became cold and forgotten. I don't know whether they had decided not to do anything to their finances or they had taken plans through other people. Many administrative work, difficult underwriting issues, numerous claims, research and preparation for my first ever seminar with me as speaker etc... and making me busy. It can't stop me wondering how I am able to handle all these when the babies arrive.
I have 10 more weeks to think what I need to do to ensure life be better when they arrive. I may need to learn delegating my work to my admin staff in office or to find domestic help at home. I need to be more productive. I need to put in the right attitude to handle the babies, etc... I think the most important is to build up my spiritual muscles and rest all on the Lord...
So whats happening to the babies at week 25? Lets see how Josiah and Joshua are doing...
Baby's Lungs Are Gearing Up to Breathe
Your baby is growing by leaps and bounds, reaching nine inches in length and passing the pound and a half mark — taller than two juice boxes stacked one on top of the other and almost as heavy as four of them. What else is going on this week? Your baby's skin is turning pinker — not because he or she's getting overheated (in fact, the amniotic fluid is perfectly climate-controlled, keeping your baby at an always comfortable temperature), but because small blood vessels, called capillaries, are forming under the skin and filling with blood. Later this week, blood vessels will also develop in your baby's lungs, bringing them one step closer to full maturity — and one step closer to taking that first breath of fresh air. But at 25 weeks pregnant, those lungs are still very much works in progress. Though they are already beginning to develop surfactant, a substance that will help them expand with oxygen after the baby is born, the lungs are still too undeveloped to sufficiently send oxygen to the bloodstream and release carbon dioxide when baby exhales.
Baby’s Nostrils Open
The lungs aren't the only system that's gearing up for air intake. Your baby's nostrils, which have been plugged up until now, are starting to open this week. This actually allows your little one to begin taking practice breaths. (Of course since there's no air in there, your baby is really only "breathing" amniotic fluid, but it's the practice that counts, right?)

More items in my babies room now
Felin was not able to sleep well the night before. She was stressed over her work and the thought of work made her insomnia. She was contemplating quitting from her job. I know that she just have to endure that 2-3 months to enjoy her 4 months maternity leave but if she is really not able to continue and her stress is affecting the babies, I think this little monetary sacrifice is nothing. I'll support whatever she opts for.
As both of us did not really slept well, we woke up a bit late today at 8am. We dressed up fast and I drove her to work. She reached office at 9:15am. She seems hopeful that I can drive her to work everyday. She is starting to feel uncomfortable on the MRT. The journey to work is so comfortable compared to taking the public transport.
After driving her to work, I proceeded to Expo for the Baby Fair. I queued up half an hour before it open and was one of the first to enter the hall. I just went straight to the Mandela Breast Pump booth and get what I wanted. When I start queuing to pay, a long queue was already forming behind me. Glad that I reached early and saved the time having to queue.
I walked around for a while before going to Zoey's place to collect the cot and baby seat. I was happy to meet her and her children after quite a while we last met. Caden and Jaden are growing well and I enjoyed talking to Caden as he talked about his toys. As both of them are boys, they somehow trigger me that I'll be handling 2 boys in future too. I took the items, thanked Zoey and went back, clean and fixed up the cot and baby gym. Below is a picture on how it looks like.
I will be bringing Felin to the baby fair this weekend and we just going to get more things.
I quickly went back to work and get to know that Casey will be getting another Seminar by mid October. It seems that I'll be forced to talk much earlier than I expect. Getting pretty stressed up now... I'm certainly not giving enough confidence to Casey that I am able to handle the seminar well. Its his ricebowl and source of lead. I just have to do my best for him and Johnny...
Its our PIAS awards night today too and I brought Felin with me to the dinner at Park Royal City Hall. I got the High Performance Award this year but missed the Platinum award because PIAS raise the bar only this year. Only a handful achieving the Platinum award and hence next year, they are reducing the bar again.
I think the happiest moment will be that I'm one of the lucky draw winner to have won $250 Takashimaya vouchers. Less than a year ago, I won $1k and now I got $250. Not too bad, it seems... I do not know what the direct channel will affect me next year but I can only say. Take each step at a time...

Preparation for the Baby Market Fair (2-5 Oct 14)
I am trying to adapt a new daily routine by sleeping and waking up early today. It may not be long before I need to bring Felin to work at Buona Vista every morning. Her tummy is getting really quite big based on a 24th week pregnancy. She mentioned that her tummy is very tight now and whenever she is full after a meal, she feels really uncomfortable.
I did struggled to wake up this morning and I took quite a bit of effort to pull myself out of the bed. Sounds silly but that's me who seldom need to wake up at 7am in the morning. We managed to spend a bit more time together as we took the bus and MRT together. Instead of getting myself back to work early, I instead went to the Baby's market facebook page and start browsing through what are all the items that are available for this baby's fair and whether we will need them when we are to start the shopping over the weekend. I spent nearly 2 hours on this instead of spending my time at work. haha...
At the same time, Zoey apps me to inform me that I can collect the Baby's Cot anytime. She also told me that she has a new baby seat and walker to pass me too. Wah. Got so many new items to be blessed. Happy to have such friends around me. I must be really careful not to buy or take too many things because my house is small and I cannot afford to keep many items.
Its going to be an exciting week ahead and its time to spend for the kids... Hope we can get good deals during this period... Woo Hoo...
